Tasman Rower In Trouble - Help Wanted
Adventurer Shaun Quincey, 24, has rowed over 2000km passing the halfway mark on his epic solo rowing expedition from Australia to New Zealand. Celebrations were quickly dampened when Shaun's desalination unit or drinking water machine suddenly failed. Without the ability to create fresh drinking water, Shaun is over 1000km from assistance or rescue potentially putting the crossing in significant risk.
Aided with satellite tracking and communications technology, Shaun left a podcast on his website describing the issues he is having. Shaun has asked anyone prepared to help him trouble shoot the failed machine to write suggestions and guidance on his blog for his support crew to review and communicate back as soon as possible.
Despite the recent and potentially threatening issues, Shaun's has enjoyed some amazing moments including
- Literally running into a whale, provoking it to surface next to the boat and revelling a head the size of a combi van. View full post »
- 7 days confined to his cabin, a 1 by 2m box. View full post »
- Dangerous conditions almost tearing the boat apart. View full post »
