A year on from entering the sport of triathlon and contemplating this Saturday's National Triathlon Championships in Wellington, Kate McIlroy is a changed triathlete. No longer the unknown or the novice, McIlroy is a triathlete to be feared in any race she features in, thanks to a stunning first season in the sport that saw her rise to number 20 in the world.

Leading Australian professional cyclist Carla Ryan has been joined by five time National road cycling champion and Commonwealth Games medallist Gordon McCauley as entries build for Le Race being held on Saturday 20 March.

The excitement is building and entries are pouring in for this legendary road cycling event which takes competitors on a fast, fun and scenic 100km journey from one world famous tourist destination to another.

The 48,000 sausages are on ice and 12,000 litres of water is chilled and waiting to be poured into 100,000 cups, as the finishing touches are being made in preparation for Auckland's favourite fun run, Ports of Auckland Round the Bays.

Previous year's Ironman volunteers Claire Wakeling and Richard Hine achieved their dream on Saturday, finishing the 2010 Bonita Ironman, Claire in a time of 12.12.23 and Richard in 11.58.38.

New Plymouth triathlete Clark Ellice has overcome an altitude and mountain stream induced scare to be ready to race at this weekend's Contact Tri Nationals in Wellington, an event that also carries with it ITU Oceania Championship status.

Leading New Zealand triathlete Kris Gemmell is enjoying the 'high life' of the Snow Farm, high above Wanaka as he and other leading triathletes complete an altitude camp on the eve of the Contact National Triathlon Championships in Wellington this weekend.
