A duathlon provides an opportunity for women to take part in a multi-sport event if they can't or do not want to swim, or prefer not to have to get into togs. It's the opportunity to get out, get active and experience the thrill of being part of an event. Most importantly, it's not a race; it's an event designed so women of all ages and fitness levels can join together in enjoyable and achievable outdoor exercise.
More information is available at the Real Women's Duathlon Series website.

The 2009 Southern Lakes Women's Duathlon & Triathlon takes place yet again in the Lake Hayes Show Ground, in Queenstown, on the 28th February 2009.

The other disciplines' course remain the same, with the swim/kayak section in the waters of Lake Hayes.

The Alpine Epic is a 5-stage, 243km mountain bike race from Mt Somers to Tekapo.
Rough, uncompromising and spectacular. This is not the place for groomed berms and kickers, but regardless of your ability on the bike this will be challenging and test your skills as a complete rider.
The course features very little road, probably about 40km during the whole event, the rest will be a mixture of mustering trails and 4wd track, riverbed and fence lines.
More info is available at the Alpine Epic website.
