New Zealand triathlete Kieran Doe has won the Asian Long Distance Championships in South Korea.

Doe was a comprehensive winner in the event, clearing out on the swim and blitzing the field on the bike before coming home comfortably on the run to win by almost 8 minutes.

It is a welcome and stunning return to the winners circle for Doe after having to withdraw from Ironman NZ in March with stomach problems. At the time he was unable to train for long periods, restricting his ability to cope with the longer Ironman distance of racing.

Fellow Kiwis Andrew Mackay was 13th and Bevan McKinnon was 20th. No further details or comment is available at this time.

Meanwhile in the women’s race Erin O’Hara made it a Kiwi double on the podium following Gina Ferguson home in third place while Joanna Carrel finished 12th. For further comment from Gina Ferguson, visit www.triathlon.org.nz.
