Maik Petzold from Germany set the benchmark for the others to follow in Hamburg as he overtook Great Britain's Alistair Brownlee at the top of the Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Rankings. Having completed four Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship events, with a third, sixth and two fourth place finishes, Petzold gives himself a great chance of glory at the Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Grand Final on Australia's Gold Coast in September.

Despite having only raced three races, the seemingly unstoppable Brownlee holds on to second, just 93 points behind the German. Having won in Madrid, Washington, DC and Kitzbühel, the 21 year old heads to the next race on home turf in London looking to keep his unbeaten streak intact.

2008 world champion Javier Gomez remains in third having registered three Dextro Energy Triathlon - World Championship Series podium finishes and a sixth at the Hy-Vee ITU Triathlon Elite Cup. Brad Kahlefeldt's second place in Hamburg keeps him well established towards the top of the rankings in fourth whilst Hamburg winner, Jarrod Shoemaker from the USA, moves up to fifth.

Athletes can utilise results from a range of four Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship fixtures or ITU Triathlon World Cups to make up their final score. World Championship races carry double points.
